Metrics are not objectives

When a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure

It is important to build demand a culture where the metrics are not becoming

The moment a metric is tied to compensation, performance evaluations, or quarterly status reports, people stop managing the business and start managing the score.

Quantitative output

Metrics that measure financial increases or efficiency gains can be viewed as output oriented. These have recently been viewed as less valuable than outcome based ones. This is wrong, a business thrives on the quantiative metrics. Focusing solely and mainely on qualitative outcomes rather than output, turns an organization into a complicated academic excecices rather than a practical and pragmatic system.

Qualtiative outcomes

Paired effects
